Hello all. For the past 3 weeks I've been working on getting my dad's 1946 Chevy out of mothballs. I came across this site today so I thought I would stop in and say hello.
Here are a few pictures I took while I was working on it.
Truck Picture 1 Truck Picture 2 Truck Picture 3 I don't know the complete history of the truck, but I know a little. I know my grandfather bought it and it was supposedly "worn out" then. At some point later my dad started driving it.
I know it has the chrome grill out of a '41 and it's on it's third engine, currently a 1961 235. This engine was rebuilt ~15 years ago but hardly has 10k miles on it since.
My dad simply does not have time to drive it so it just sits in the garage. I decided a few weeks ago to get it going. A fresh battery and a little brake work and she's running like a champ, I even drove it to work today.
I drove it SLOWLY though because the tires are ~30 years old. It will be getting a new set of radials Thursday. I'm interested to see what that does for the ride. I'd love to put the original 6.00x16's on it, but unfortunately since the wheels are long gone, that's not in the budget right now.
Even if he doesn't have time, he doesn't want to see it rust off the frame either.
