Well, a few years ago, due to space and money considerations, I sold my '54 GMC. I didn't really want to but, you know how it goes some times. I've still continued to visit the Stovebolt Page just to, sort of, stay in it. Anyway, I decided, even though I don't have room for a truck, I was looking in the garage the other day and though, there's plenty of room for an engine. So, I looked on ebay and, low and behold, there's a '54 248 up for bid, and it says "needs complete rebuild". Like it was made to order. And, to top it off, it was about 40 miles away! Long story short, for some reason I was the only one who bid on it so I am now the proud owner of a "new" '54 GMC engine! Got her home, put her on the engine stand and wheeled her into the garage. Leaned her up against the engine hoist in the back of the truck and broke the distributer cap, Shoot!! Oh, well, was probably going to replace it anyway. It needs a carb and a few other things. I have the bell housing, flywheel, clutch and starter also. I'll probably be asking many questions in the next few months, although my sons a mechanic so I've got some built in help at home. I think the first step is going to be to degrease her.
