I'm having a hard time locating rear axle seals for my 1950 3600. Chevs of the 40s lists but unavailable until further notice. Other sites list a seal that works from 1946-1972, but not sure I trust that. Anyone know where I can pick up a pair?

Local parts store is your best bet. Got my last pair at Autozone or NAPA.

The 46-72 is correct. GM used the HO72 up until 1972, then they went to the 14 bolt. The 8 lug HO52 and 8 lug HO72 were basically the same, just different ring/pinion center section combinations.

Go get them in Denver here. I bought mine from their store here locally in Rapid City yesterday for my 1 ton.

When looking for seals or bearings. If you look at the seal there should be a # stamped on the face of the seal if you take that to a FLAPS they should be able to match one up for you.Same with bearings.
