Question

Should or normally do the numbers on the id tag on the door and the nuber stamped on the boss behind the distributo match?

I am in need of some engine parts and I thought or was always told the engine was replaced in the old truck

Anyway I have done searches and come up with conflicting info , I will get casting numbers tomorrow after work

The numbers I have now off the door plate 3KRD2210

The Number on the boss
3KRD2210 OR COULD BE 2216

All I can find is decoding the plate on the door is K is for 1952 r is for truck and its a 3/4 ton model 3600 which f cousre I already knew.

Any other ideas?

No, the door tag is the trucks' serial number, and the number behind the distributor is the engine serial number. Often times back then the truck was titled with the engine serial number as the truck's serial number, resulting in problems with engine changes.
It is impossible that your truck was built with the tag numbers and engine numbers matching. I do not know why they match now, sounds like someone changed the engine number to the tag number.

Ok, well I will get the casting numbers and se what they have to say about the engine. I was told that the egine had been swapped for a 1962 235. Not sure if this is correct or not. I can't seem to find a lot of info leading up to a 1962 235. More info later.

I am guessing your right Brian, sounds like it may have been titled that way. I belive the truck originally came from a farm someplace in KS, maybe they used to tilte them that way.

I did take the head to the machine shop today to get a valve job. The old guy was a bit surprised said he hadn't seen one of those in while.

Now wait I do have a question now that I think about it, then what is meant by the term a numbers matching??? I have heard this term thrown out by several car buffs, meaning of course the motor and the vehicel match and are original. How would this be?

Get yourself a copy of the sales catalog from LMC Trucks, and they have an article in the front pages that very simply explains the numbers on your truck and the engine numbers also. Besides, that have a lot of the stuff you may be needing. They've been good do me when I've called and needed some help.

Well I scrounged up the block casting numbers and found it to be 3738307 which reads as below. Now I can play the parts game and get the correct gaskets and pushrods not that I think they differ that much. Is there any way to tell other than removing the side cover to see if the engine is solid lifters or hydraulic?
