I cant find them anywhere. Steele Company was less than helpful. Jim Carters has no idea. Any help would be appreciated. All it is is channel and a seal X 4.

Do you have a photo of what you are trying to replace?

Jim Carter had all the seals I needed for my 1954 Suburban side windows. All I had to adapt from Restoration Specialties, Inc. were the whiskers in the vertical stainless steel strips.

I will take some. It is one continuous bendable whisker piece that the rear 2-piece window slides in and one rubber seal that goes between the outer frame and the stationary window. I will check that company though that u gave me.

Restoration Specialties does not list those parts. It has whisker strips that can be adapted to go in the vertical stainless steel strips on the stationary side windows (in 1954 Chevrolet Suburban).

Thanks, Tim

That is a much more complete/convenient kit at Classic Parts than what Jim Carter lists on his website.

I wonder how well the vertical bar whiskers work on early and late vertical bars - have you tried the Classic Parts whiskers?

Also, if you ID the parts in their photo, I'll edit a copy of the photo and include the part names (and then post the photo here).

The vertical whiskers look like they are going to be really tight,I did by a set from them.I bought some of my parts from Jim Carter and the whiskers and quarter window rubber from Classic Parts Of America.
Classic Parts Of America will sell each item separate of the kit, they don't list the parts individual in the catalog but you can call or walk in and get what you need.

Tim,I'll try to ID the parts for you.

glass channels
vertical whiskers
wedge rubber
Glass setting tape for the vertical stainless trims to glass.
quarter glass rubber

I named them from the back row and then left to right and then front row.

Remember, they will sell the parts individually if you call or walk in.

Is it me or is that kit missing 4 pieces of setting tape and four whiskers?? Or does the setting tape get cut in half the long way?

Where do you need 8 pieces of setting tape?

Maybe:

4 x for attaching the stainless steel vertical stationary strips to the glass (on the 4 sliding windows or on the 4 stationary windows, depending on the year of your Suburban).

4 for attaching the small stainless steel clips used to move the sliding window (if your Suburban has the vertical strips on the stationary windows)

Where do you need 8 whiskers?

4 for the stainless steel vertical strips (stationary or not, depending on the year of the Suburban).

4 for ?

Post some pictures and that might help clarifying what is needed, and where it is needed?

Ah! Thanks Tim. That actually clears things up. Having a close look at my Burb, I have the stationary windows with no stainless. My stationaries were delaminating in such a way that I thought they had remnants a stainless trim also. So when I was collecting parts, I found some stationary glass that had trim on it.

Which years had the stationary glass with the stainless trim? Looks like I might have 2-3 pieces to sell.
