Hi their guys my budy has a 1957 chevy 3100 pick up and he is wanting to slam it low without changing the front suspension. We took off all the small leaf springs and left 2 of the big one but looks like it could break in the future? Anyone know what else we can do to keep it safe? Answers would be appreciated.

There's only so far you can go with a stock axle before you run into issues like bottoming out on the bup stops or hitting the oil pan. If you want to go lower, a dropped axle is in order. Sid's is considered to be one of the best.

Take the wheels off. It will get really low that way.

i saw a show once where they notched the body down over the frame to give the visual effect of the truck being lower ?? you would have to do more research about it and have the guys on here give their opinion but why not ?

That technique is called "Channelling". Been around for many many years. Generally, it's done on '20s-'mid '30s vehicles were the frame rails are close to outsides of the body. It involves cutting out the floor pan, then raising it the desired amount. It does reduce headroom.

Only way I know is to air bag it, That way you can lower it at shows etc then raise it to drive.
