| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 255 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 255 | Had my original lever shocks rebuilt by Apple Hydraulics. Got them installed with new links and bushings last night. I put new spring pins and bushings in the leaf springs a while back. Went for a good long test drive today, and the old truck sure feels a lot better "at speed". Bumps don't make the truck nervous - and sure feels a lot smoother. Granted, it is 1938 suspension, but I am really surprised how much better it is now with everything back "in spec". | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 54 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 54 | Awesome job! I'm rebuilding a 37 gmc 1/2 ton now. Was looking at getting apple to rebuild the shocks. I think you have the same delco 1430s. How much did it cost you? Sounds like you had a good experience. I was checking around for reviews and there were a few bad ones on some boards so was hesitating a bit. Did they paint them or did you? Thanks, matt | | | | | Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 313 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 313 | I had my front shocks done by Apple, good work and quick turn around. My rear shocks done by Five Points, not as good as Apple! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Just curious, but how much does it cost to have a set rebuilt?

I ask for "R&R" (rebuild and return) service. Sent my shocks to them and they mailed them back after rebuild. They did not paint them, they were blasted and primed. They also installed new link bushings on the shocks. Took about 5 days at their shop. Cost was $135 each. They were very good about replies on their website. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 54 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 54 | Great! Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably have them do mine then. Again, really nice work on the truck. | | |
