Hoping that some of you have did this so I'm not wasting time and money trying to figure what will work and what will not. Or is there a vendor that makes a kit? I'm using a alternator without air. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 1,456 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 1,456 | Moost serp belts run on a reverse rotation water pump, also the belt load is much higher than v- belt, might be more than the pump bearings can handle.

I think maybe you are just looking at a ribbed, 4 or 6 grooved, flat back belt. If thats the case, hunt down a late model small block Chevy and see if you could rob the pulleys. You might have to adapt and modify, but it could be done. This type of belt shouldn't load the water pump any more then a V-belt does.

Simply not made for it and seems very difficult to modify. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 1,456 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 1,456 | [quote=Joe H I think maybe you are just looking at a ribbed, 4 or 6 grooved, flat back belt.

A stock 235 only needs a belt to run the water pump and generator. No real need for a serpentine. Unless you ad air and power steering, maybe modifying for a serpentine setup would be kind of cool. Lots and lots of fab work though. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | Maybe you guy's have been around too many of those bent motors...? :>) | | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 623 "MONGO" | | "MONGO" Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 623 | Several guys have done the Serpentine thing. There was a guy I want to think in Topeka that made a set of pulleys and was selling them but don't see the link I had to him here, might be on my laptop at home. I do have a bookmark to a thread about supercharger builds on the HAMB http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3037464&postcount=36 where the guy talks about how he built his serpentine setup. See if that helps. MONGO | | |
