So I'm gonna change the real main seal and install a new clutch kit. What's the best way to get to it? Do I have to pull out the entire rear end/ torque tube / trans? Would it be eaiset to pull the engine forward? Thanks for your help!

You should be able to unbolt the torque tube cover from the tranny, slide it back, undo the universal joint, slide the yoke back into the tube far enough so you can then drop the end of the torque tube down to the ground. Then you can pull the tranny.

Sometimes the yoke cannot be slid back enough because the motor/tranny has shifted on the mounts or an Oakie bushing has been installed in the torque tube. Then you may need to undo the ubolts and slide the rear end back a notch.

Good luck!

You only need to install an Oakie bushing if you are having problems with transmission oil leaking from the trans to the rear end. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

I just replaced my clutch on my 46 1/2 ton, I had to unbolt the front shackle bolts on my rear springs and unbolt the ujoint in the front of the tube and it will slide back about 3 inches, enough to move it out of the way, then you can get to the clutch and pressure plate from underneath

I just replaced my rear main seal and only had to disconnect the U-joint (within the ball housing), slide it back enough to allow the driveline to drop down. Once down far enough to clear the back end of the tranny, pull the U-Joint, ball collar of the end of the driveline and then raised it until it touched the bottom side of the floor board.

Pulled the tranny and did my thing.
