Wondering if there were any other changes, besides the rearend, between the 54 and 55.1 half ton? Found some 55 1st series parts and thinking I use them as spares for my 54.

open driveshaft rear end so transmission, rear leaf springs, driveshaft are different, hood side emblems and grille accent colors are the only thing I know of off hand.

The '54 had the open driveshaft didn't it? Our 3600 does, anyway. Maybe not the 3100.

The standard from-the-factory 1954 1/2 ton truck with Hydra-Matic transmission had a torque-tube rear-end. All 1954 trucks larger than 1/2 ton had an open driveshaft.

The 1955-1st series 1/2 ton trucks (any transmission) had open drive shafts.
