I'd like to mount it on the end of the tail pipe. Would it cause any harm to do so?

I think I'm looking for a resonator as previously mentioned. Something I can clamp onto the exhaust tip. Lucille is a stock '46 with a 216 engine and has a 22" long 5" round muffler. The tail pipe is 1 3/4" OD. The distance from the muffler to the end of the tail pipe is 58". All I want to do is to quiet the exhaust noise down a bit. I don't want it so sound like a fart machine. Just a low rumble. Is that possible? And I don't want to spend alot of money to do it. If there is such a device what is it and where can I get one?

(high rpm and full throttle being relative terms here) | | |
