Recently the speedometer quit working but the odometer works fine. What could be the problem and can it be fixed?
I'm guessing that since the odometer works that the cable is good.

My thinking is buy the good used one and do the job all at once rather then wait 2 weeks turn around time.

I have one I would like to get restored. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 1,001 | In case the OP is not aware, there is no mechanical connection between the cable driven parts of the speedo and the indicator needle. The connection is magnetic. So, unless the indicator needle post is broken, the likely culprit is dried grease preventing the magnetic pull from rotating the needle shaft. The connection is hard to explain, but sort of a magnetized cup in a larger cup. Offsetting magnets...allows for dampening out the fluctuations, etc.
The speedos are easy to disassemble and clean. | | |
