Help!
Could anyone measure the length (shortest point of notch to notch in bar) of the spreader bar for a 1955 to I think 1960 1/2 ton pickup Emergency Spreader
bar or Strut bar and post it here.
Just trying to make sure I have the correct ones before I go buy new brake shoes.
Thanks
I will also try to post a picture tomorrow of the one I have!

you gottem, and the right shoes .... except if that last pic is the left rear [judging by the muffler], you've got the shoes backwards, the short [primary] shoe goes to the front, all corners

Thanks Red58
The Problem is when I install them it holds the shoe to the left about a 1/2 inch off the pivot cam at the top

might be you just need to bash things a bit to get everything seated right - if the numbers are correct [55RR and length] might be cuz the shoes are backwards, try switching the shoes, tho' I think the 'core' part is identical for primary and secondary - those things are a pain .... make sure that spring on the end is seated and the "ear" on the spring isn't hanging it up

when I took them off like that I kind of thought
the shoes where reversed but thats the way I took them off and they had worked like that before so I did not question it to much till I was tring to get the e Brake to work.I will compare measurements with yours and fix the brake oreintation problem and try again.
Thanks again!

If the shoes wont go back far enough to contact the anchor the emergency cables are stuck or adjusted up to tight. Also a stuck wheel cyl. will cause this but I,m shure you serviced them before putting on new shoes.
