For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 190 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 190 | Made a new main shaft,it was really worn, bushed both that shaft and the choke shaft. Really pleased with the results. Then I screwed up and cracked my bowl body/ dumb move - dang it. It leaks a very small amount/ bairley drips. I am trying to fix it, but now looking for a better one if anyone has one. Its a Carter BB1, using it on my 292 straight 6. It's been working well for several years. I did not see the crack at all. Just noticed seapage, took it off and found the leak. Anybody got a updraft or atleast the bowl part of one? thanks Tom | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | Is it a '41-'49 Carter model 489, or 517. Or a later, '50-'53 model 871, or '54, & up model 2075. I've got a few cores laying around. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 190 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 190 | Thanks much, I don't know how to tell. My Venturi measures 1 1/16 id has the number 34 on it. Only number I could find on the bowl body was at where the aircleaner would go on - number is 455. main jet has number r142. Could I measure some part, or send you some pictures of it, to help? sure appreciate it, Tom. | | |
