For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 67 | Hey guys, been about 10yrs since I've posted on here. So long my other login name has been deactivated but I've got another AD truck after spending enough time with the '67-72 trucks. I just bought a '49 GMC 1 Ton which I'll be tearing apart this week hopefully so I can get it put on my '76 motorhome chassis with a 350/350 combo. I've got to strip the motorhome down to bare chassis this week as well, so hopefully the rain stops for a few days. Since I wont be using the 235/4spd combo of the chassis of the 1 ton I'll be selling or trading all the parts. Only thing I need is the body. Otherwise the complete chassis with axles, rims/tires, gas tank and GM Delux heater and original hub caps are for sale. It currently has a PTO driven ram setup for the dump bed but I'll probably be keeping that one, or using the one off my '41 2 ton Ford. But I'll have a dump bed setup if anybody is looking for one. I need a good set of gauges though for my truck. Mine are toast..rusted out completely and I sold my good set last year when I parted my '54 out. If you have any guages that work, don't have to be a mint set, let me know. This will be my daily driver work truck so it can be a lil rough and I'll fix it as I go. If you need any of the above parts, let me know. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd364/otservice/IMG_6995.jpgThanks, Nate | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,997 Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator | | Big Bolt Forum Co-moderator Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,997 | Hey Nate, Nice looking truck. Check with 3B (Bobb) he may be parting out one of the gazillion trucks he has around. He might have some gauges for you. If not check out KMS in Coquitlam. They did have some parts trucks around, don't know if they have gauges in them. Then again he never did have any '37 parts for me so I could be mistaken | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 843 | I'll look at the gauges I have.Don't know if they work however | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 67 | Thanks for checking. About KMC, I stay away from there. For what they want in parts I can go buy an entire truck for the same price lol

If I figure in the shipping and going across the border to pick them up they are about the same as the online guys on some things. You have to take them with a grain of salt though. They don't know their trucks as well, especially if you have a 48 or 49. There were some subtle differences in the cab they don't know about, and they aren't familiar with the big bolts so much. If I have a major order where it makes it worth it to go across the border or they don't have the parts I use Jim Carter, Chevs of the 40s, Classic, or the Filling Station. Jim Carter just had a 10% off sale so I ordered all my window trim and gaskets from them. Tempted to buy the Jim Carter $555 dollar radio, but I think I'll get my truck running first! For me, it's worth it to go across the border since I'm just in Langley. Price wise most things are cheap enough down south that if you're buying a large $ amount it's worth it. If it's just nickle and dime stuff or rush stuff I'll just use Old Car Center, Napa, Lordco or Mopac to order stuff in if I can get cost on the stuff.
I'll need a few new things like window rubber all the way around, bear claw latches for my suicide doors, and maybe a new wiring kit. Otherwise I think I'm set for this project.

I actually just sold my '49 body to another guy, since we're moving now and can only keep one project, which is the lil womans '64 Caddy. Just sold my '55 project today too, so now I'm truckless!! But I've got a '52 COE in my sights...not sure if I'll pull the trigger and go buy it though.
The guy who bought my '49 though, wants my buddy and I build all the mounting brackets and put it on an S10 chassis for him. He might need/want other parts though, not sure yet. Might still asking for some parts. I know he wants a short bed. I've found a few down south but nothing up here right now.

is the 52 COE down south? I'd do it, that would make a wicked work truck for you on a newer one ton dually chassis.
