what size tire shold i use on my 1948 1/2 ton original 15 inch rims.thanks

Do you want to match the diameter of the original tire?

Do you want original style bias ply or will you consider radial ply?

Nothing very wide, that wheel is 5" wide, correct?
Many tire sites will show the wheel width range for a given size tire (i use www.tirerack.com).
I like the tall narrow look, plus you can turn the steering wheel!

Once again, you have to go to les schwab, and ask as they aren't on the website, they have 7.00-15 radials that have the perfect look, 4 of them mounted and everything was $780 the only problem I found so far is they get flat spots from sitting and scared the bejeebers out of me at first, but it goes away after a few minutes. I posted pictures on 1-29-12, if you want to look at them. (I would just re-post the picture, but my wife is sleeping and I don't know how) but if you go back in general truck talk to that date you will see "update on 15" wheels and tires" there will be a link there. They are just slightly over 29" tall. I am extremely pleased with them, I have spent a considerable amount of time on websites looking for something that was even close, I had given up and went down to les schwab and was about to get some p-metric something or other when the guy mentioned these. I had to wait 2 days as they had to order them in, but well worth it.

I found they track better than the original cross ply, wear better, look correct, get better mpg and ride better.

@ brokenhead ; I am surprised at your comment on flat spotting. Are you really sure you were sold radials. This is one of the features I really like about the radial , both on my pickup and on the bus (Kumho 900 R20) . NO flat spotting.

I'm with Dusty, radials will not flat spot .... I have Yokohama 700R15's on the 58 and love'em

I have been running 7.00 R-15 Toyo on my '60 Apache for the last 25 years, never had any issus with flat spots. Now I have a set of 215R -15 BFG all - terain on another rig and they will setting over a weekend.

well all I know is the fella said they were radials, (I never actually saw them until they arrived at the store, since they had to be ordered, and took him at his word, yeah I know, I know. But I had no reason to doubt him) but they make it real easy to turn the wheel, they make the truck handle incredibly better. (better being a relative statement here) There is no markings either way as to what the construction actually is, unless the R in the number designation is required to be there, because there is no R in the number designation. I never looked until this morning, Whatever the case they work very well, have the proper look, and the flat spots only last about 3 minutes. I really like them anyway.

The 'R' does stand for radial.

aw well they look just right for my truck (in my opinion), still kind of upsets me that just one more time someone has bull####ed me. It is getting to be like the dark ages, no one can be honest or straightforward any more. There is a chance he was being truthful as far as he knew, I mean people make mistakes.
