For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 3 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 3 | Bad leak from the front seal. Where do I buy the parts to fix this? Have the 4:56 diff. Thanks! By the way, just did the t-5 swap, hei ignition, carb upgrade. She runs like the wind, but that leaking diff is wrecking the buzz. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | You should be able to buy the seal at flaps. My yoke had grooves where the seal goes and I had to use a speedy sleeve. The big nut takes a whole lot of torque to remove. Folks generally use a 3/4" impact gun to do the job. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Hey Fred, if that "Speedi-Sleeve" was an SKF, you don't happen to still have the number do you????

I think actually NAPA sells the seal and sleeve as a set. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Yeah, I can measure it when I get it apart, and I have the SKF catalog on my computer, but because of the mild winter I'm still driving Bluebelle and I don't want to tear her apart. Was hoping you still had the numbers so I could pick one up at Motion Industries. The NAPA (Balkamp) sleeves are way cheaper than the original SKF Speedi-Sleeve but I prefer the SKF's because they have a better surface finish, have the stiffening flange on them for driving them on and come with the installation driver. Thanks anyway, DG
