The W-1 was the midrange model of Carter's second generation of single barrel downdraft carburetors. 128 different were produced, including many for Chevrolet 1932~1949:
http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/CarterChevroletW1.htmThe YF was the top of the line in Carter's third generation of single barrel downdraft carburetors, beginning in 1950 and carrying through the mid-1980's.
The YF is somewhat technologically superior to the W-1. However, the YF's diaphragm type accelerator pump can give issues when used with ethanol based fuel where the vehicle is not a daily driver.
Carter produced literally hundreds of different type YF carburetors. Searching the archives on this forum will yield a listing I posted of those produced for Chevrolet (both original equipment and aftermarket).
As to parts:
W-1 repair kits and other parts are easily obtained from specialty vendors.
Generic (one size fits none) YF repair kits are available from FLAPS, and some specialty vendors. Other specialty vendors carry repair kits and most other parts for specific YF models.
