Your truck could have been bought new as a Flat Face Cowl and then sent to a body shop to have a custom cab built. Does your truck have a serial number plate? If so post the numbers and we'll confirm what you have. It will help if you post some pictures as well. I will try to get some pictures posted soon. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 11 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 11 | It could also be 1PAQ89317... | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | bbfr, Per the serial number you have a 1934 Truck... Here's the way your serial number 1PA089317 breaks down; 1 = Flint Assembly Plany (2=Tarrytown, 3=St. Louis, 21= Janesville, etc.) P = 1934 Utility 1-1/2 Ton Truck A = 131" Wheel Base with Single Wheels 08 = Month built (August 1934) 8317 = Unit number starting at 1001 (so you have the 7,317th PA out of Flint). To confirm what year truck you have measure the rear spring mounts center to center; 1933 = 39-1/2" 1934 = 41" Edit 2-10-12, this measurement is for 1/2 ton only...1-1/2 ton remains unchanged. Hope this helps. Mike B

It is titled as a 1933 dually..any other major differences between 33 and 34? Supposedly i have the original 1933 plates on it yet. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | bbfr, Check your engine serial number. 1933 goes from 3367317 - 3964077 1934 goes from 3964078 - 4708994 Engine casting numbers are the same 837231, but the part numbers are different. 1933 is 364314 1934 is 600372 Check your title to comfirm it has the same serial number on it, you could have the wrong title. Your title could have the engine serial number on it...this was a standard practice in many states before the mid-1950's. If all of this checks out, I'm lost as to why it's titled a 1933...could have been a typo somewhere along the way, who knows??? Your truck could have been born a single wheel truck and the dealer or one of it's owners along the way added the outer wheels to give the truck a higher GVW. Mike B Edited to correct casting number mistake 2-10-12

There also is a G-23-4 near the cast number. Looks like a 33/34 hybrid. Rear spring mounts center to center are 45"..with 9 leaf springs. I have the wood extension which appears original that extends 15" past edge of door..running boards are 61" from fender..all appear original. Would be nice to know history of truck..lotsa questions. Thanks again | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | bbfr, After reading your post with numbers I went back to the books and I see I made mistakes! I gave the Part Number for 1934 (600372) not the casting number which IS the same as 1933 (837231). What threw me off is 1933 and 34 have different part numbers, so you would think the casting numbers would be different as well. One of my books lists the following info for 1933 Cylinder Block..."1933 ALL (casting number 837231 - no valve clearance cutout on top of cylinder)...p/n 364314". So maybe that's the difference? I also gave you the 1/2 ton truck spring centers, not the 1-1/2 ton which are the same as 1933 (so nothing to compare there). Lets look at the Head Casting numbers (I'll try to get this right...lol). 1933 is 836961 1934 is 837230 Your casting date also makes it a 1934 "G-23-4" (July 23, 1934) which would be right in line for a truck built in August. They also made a change in the Steering Arms between 1933 and 1934. The forged arm is round between the two bolts (where it bolts to the spindle) on 1933 and squared off with round corners in 1934. The Frame was also changed in 1934. The kick up over the rear wheels was eliminated making the top of the frame rails flat from the cab back. Sorry for yesterdays confusion...I'll edit the post above to make it right for the archives... I'm sure i may have more questions as i dig further into restoring her. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | bbfr, You can also look at the date code on the radiator tank. The letter is the month...for a truck built in August the letter could be F, G or H. The parts must have been damaged or missing. I asked the owner if it had been lengthend and he replied "no". So it is unique. The steel looks great. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 137 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 137 | I added the ebay # to the ad so you can see the pictures.

The front fenders in 1933 just barely roll over the top of the tire (drivers side has the fender end at about 11 o'clock, 1934 end just above the bumper (9:30). With the long running boards my guess it was born either a Open Express (Heavy Duty Pickup) or a Canopy Delivery. They both were single wheel trucks with rear fenders that bolted to the running boards. Everything from the door hinge post back including the doors looks custom made. Chevrolet doors had round corners for the glass.
