The Fatman's replacement crossmember is usually where the motor mounts will go, if you have a motor that doesn't use side-mount motor mounts, you will have to switch.

It can only be mounted from the front and rear of the engine. I would have to agree, you may go with an other engine or make sure you get a IFS that doesn't require to cut the front mounting cross member if you decide to keep your current engine. Do you have any pics of your 51 GMC? Bread Update
