| | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 88 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 88 | It is a 51 GMC 640 with a 4-71 detroit and a 5x3 trans. Full air brakes. It runs and moves but I noticed I had a coolant leak. once I started exploring the source of the leak I discovered it has a rusted off pipe that goes from the top rad hose housing to the lower one on the motor. So I took apart the coolant hoses for the top to try and find replacements and discovered I have a lot of rust inside the tubes. Anyone have an idea where I can find these pieces. If I need to I can post pics of the tubes I have off if needed. The rest of the pics are in my album if you guys want to see them. Thanks Brad photobucket photobucket

I have been looking for one of these trucks for about a year and I bought this one and the seller never responded to my emails. Then out of the blue he calls and asks why I have not picked up the truck so I paid him and had it delivered. I am going to have to build some patch panels for the fenders but everything else is OK. Now if I can just find these coolant tubes all will be good. I figure Grigg will know where to look. jwdolin good luck on that cab as they are known to rust. I will keep an eye out though because I saw one of those trucks around here the other day, now if I can remember where.

Things like fenders, grill, running boards and hoods are upsized for the big rigs. It wouldn't surprise me to find that the basic cab from a pickup or a 1 1/2 ton, etc. might interchange, or at least be adaptable.
