My door shell and skin are in usable shape but my hinge pockets are thrashed. Top one has stress cracks between the bolt holes that I might be able to get the welder into to repair. But the lower one looks like someone took an air chisel to it and the nut plate is gone. Is it possible to replace the lower structure without skinning the door?

1959 Shortbed stepside 1/2 ton project | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | fixing those mount points is tough, makes for real problems fitting the doors afterwards - cutting into the front edge of the door can be done to fix some pocket problems, but I'd be looking for a replacement door, you'd need one anyway to get the parts that are missing in the lower pocket and it looks like you'd have to cut/replace the inner skin as well
