Anyone have an old gm parts book that could get me the part number for a hood emblem on a 1957 chevy 5700 low cab forward? Someone thinks they might have one for me but I need to confirm the part number since it will be shipped

Hy buggy5872, the p/n in my Canadian parts book is 3738187 for the L.C.F., in my American book the same number appear for 1957 5,7, and 9 series (all L.C.F.s), hope that helps.

The LCF emblem part numbers are as follows;

1956 Series 5, 7 & 9 3725794 Casting number is the same

1957 Series 5, 7 & 9 3738187 Casting number ???

The only difference between '56 and'57 is the paint colors, they share the same cast, so either one will work on your truck.

Have the seller lay the emblem flat on the table and if the top edge (the 6" wide section in the center) of the emblem is almost perfectly flat on the table it's for the LCF trucks. If it is raised up off of the table by about 1/4" in the very center it's a conventional emblem.

Thanks 3b and Mike.....I knew the info was here. Now I have to hope for the best. I called about 60 junkyards out west this week with no success.

Another dead end...I do not think I am ever going to find this thing.....I must of called 100 salvage yards already

Being a LCF, is going to make this a tough find. They are alittle more scarce, than a COE. I've seen a few of those hood emblems on ebay, in the past. Bought one of them myself. I'll check around down here for you. Problem is, with calling salvage yards is, most don't know what a LCF (Low Cab Forward) is. Back when I had my LCF's I used to call around and ask if they had any "Snubnose" , short hood Chevy, or GMC trucks from the 40's, 50's, or 60's, and they understood this better. Some of the same places that had said they didn't have a LCF, or COE that old, actually did, when I used this terminology.

When I call the salvage yards I use all those terms. I even have places telling me there is no difference from a conventional cab truck. I tell them thanks for their time and hang up. I know they are out there its just getting frustrating.
