The bolt that holds the pump in is on the inside of the engine.
It is a single bolt with a lock nut screwed through the mount into the pump.

They are critical to the alignment of the pump shaft collar in the block. I was scolded here on Stovebolt by more than one Stovebolter for doing so.  The pump is removed by loosening a lock bolt on the shaft inside the engine and will slide down and out.

It only needs to turn a quarter of a turn. I usncrewed the four bolts attachaing the outer housing of the oil pump and both gears came right out!!!
What am I missing here with regards to the other nut??
