I'm literally learning as I go but am afraid I've reached a point where I need some actual help with my truck. Is there a local club of folks where I might be able to soak in some info and get smart?

I wouldn't be able to bring my truck as it's in a few pieces... but I could definitely learn quite a bit it looks like.

I live close enough to commute, but others come to the farm with campers or tents. There is also a "head count" thread so the correct amount of food is on hand. Let Peggy know when your coming and for how long. It's one of the events I look forward to each year, lots of good times with great people! So my wife informed me, "Your daughter's birthday party is that weekend."
Now, before you condemn me for being a terrible father for not remembering her birthday, it's actually just her party that day. Her bday comes a week before. So I'm not that bad.
That being said, I won't be able to make it this year. But if there is another event sometime this year I'm absolutely in - and I intend to keep a better eye on the forums to stay in the know.

Homecoming is the same time every year... There's a bunch of use that are cross over guys, we are Stovebolters and belong to other Truck Clubs. ATCA has a great meet in Magungie, PA on Fathers Day weekend every year with 500+ trucks on display. We convoy there on Thrusday and come home Sunday. Been a long time since I logged into the site. Retired from the Navy back in '10, had some spare time, then went back to work in early '11, and holy cow here it is almost mid-way through 2012 already!
Slowly working on a '52 5-window 1/2 ton. First vehicle I bought was a '52 3-window for $700 back in '79. Sold it in '86 and regretted it every day until I found my 5-window about 3 years ago. Decided not to go original, rather building it the way I wish I could have when I was 18. 350 V8, auto trans, etc. Wanted to drop a 348 into it, mostly for the nostalgic look, but man those big ol' motors are expensive.
Really wish I would have logged into this site sooner to learn of the show last month. Maybe there'll be other opportunities in the near future.
Look forward to visiting here more often, and maybe even getting a chance to meet some of you here in the Hampton Roads area!
