For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 114 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 114 | so i started to install new bushings in the frame for the rear shackles. used a old pin to tap in with a hammer rather than tapping on the bushing. both rears went in about 95% of the way. So i was stumbled, heard try a vice, so i bought a vice, i think the darn vice would rather bend before those darn bushings with budge the 5% they need to go before i can install the new rear shackles....any ideas stovebolters??! | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 255 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 255 | I had same issue when I replaced mine. Take 'em back out and clean the hole with scotch brite pad or similar stuff. Also clean new bushing. Apply thin film of anti-seize to hole and bushing. Mash 'em back in. Check out tech tips on this - good info. Good luck! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Do everything tcox suggests plus freeze the new bushing.
