I purchased it from the local fire department here in middle tenn. It had 16,000 miles on it and in excellent condition. We use it for shows, tailgating and parades. Its a 5 speed (no 2 speed splitter). I am a big fan of your trucks. I also have a 57 lcf with an almost perfect body, a 72 427 tractor, a 56 1/2 ton, a 63 suburban, 50 1/2 ton and an SSR for the truck side. I am looking for a 56/57 10500. My dad and his brothers had a trucking company starting right before WW II. They ran Chevy tractors and later moved to the big KW's starting in 70's. but I loved those old Chevys and still do. They had a 56 10500 with a 322 and a 59 with the 348. According to my uncle that 348 was the horse. I had my eye on that truck for twenty years and knew it would come up for sale one day and I was lucky enough to get it. I originally intended to convert it to a tractor but decided it was to nice to do that. Hence the 72 tractor. Geary Trussell

This truck is a future restoration project. I need to find a better cab (has to be '56 or '57) or replacement cab fender extensions (the curved part of the step/door area). I'm working on a '56 3100 for the wife to drive (resto-rod) and after that's done I'm going to do a '56 4400 NAPCO, Mini Pumper/Brush Truck. Then I'll do the LCF, unless I find a '56/'57 Tandem first  What size is your LCF? Is it on the road, and if so how do you like driving it? I'd love to see pictures  Take care! I wish I was half as talented... One word of caution, take care of that hood emblem. They are NOT the same as the conventional hood emblems, they are flatter and could be hard to replace. Take care! I wish it was the correct one. it is off a conventional cab that someone jerry rigged on there. I have been searching for one since I got the truck. I will probably be running with holes in the hood until I can find the correct one. I have even found ones in junk yards out west but they will not sell the emblem unless I buy the whole truck. I added my '57 lcf to the above post. Its a 5700 with a 2 speed rear. It has a
replacement block which is a 327 ci. the truck came from a Chevrolet Dealership in the Sierra Nevada's California. They must have used it to run parts. Like I said the body is almost perfect. I haven't driven it much as it did not run when I got it. I put a new intake, carb and distributor on it and fired it up. I put radial tires with later model wheels (Ford) on it. When I have driven it the cab is cramped compared to a conventional cab but it runs out real good at 60 mph.
