just got a hold of a couple old 56 2 tons and looking for some help. We were going to junk both but the one we decided might be worth selling or parting out. Not sure what these things are worth but I have heard the inside dash parts are interchangeable with the 1/2 tons. The one ran good and had a 305 v8 someone stuck in it. We pulled it out and trying to really figure out what to do with the rest. We don't really want to crush it. It is also a dump bed that works good and has good tires.
I would post some pics if I could.

thetimemachine,

Welcome to the Stovebolt!

What size are the tires?

What transmission do the have?

What shape is the sheet metal.

Post your pictures to one of the photo web sites and give us a link. There is info on how to do this in the lower left corner of this page...scroll down.

Hope this works. This is the one that ran before we took the motor out. it is no beauty but the metal is good except on the back of the fenders and the top around the windshield.
Tires are 20 inch I believe and it has the old manual with a 2 speed rear i guess.

Hello time machine,

What part of Missouri are you in? I would probably be interested in some parts.

If I lived closer I'd buy the truck for scrap price, there's lots of good stuff still there...Brake drums, transmission with hand brake, PTO, bumper, grille bar, fenders, doors (maybe?), speedometer with 2-speed adaptor, heater, radiator, 2-speed rear vacuum switch, Hydrovac (for a core) and tons of little bolts, clips and brackets.

Please don't crush this truck...pass it on after you've taken what you want!

I will see what will happen. I don't want to crush it either. I think scrap will bring around 1,ooo but i won't let the good stuff go. Doors or really good. I checked today and they are not rusted through on the bottom. Just rusty from what i could check.
The 2 speed switch has a cable, it also has an electric wiper motor.
Going to put it on ebay for 1,500 buy it now but I know it won't bring that so I will set a reserve.
The other 2 ton is in a lot worse shape and not sure it is a dump. We have to take 2 wheels and tires for the back to tow it.
Check out my facebook page and it will show us bring the blue one back. Look under Affordable Towing or Snapper1650

How much are they paying for scrap in your area? Here it's less than 10 cents per pound and they deduct for tires and wood bed. You must be a wholesaler if you're getting 20 cents per pound...I'm jealous...lol!

The cab, doors and hood all fit the small trucks and the SM-420 transmission is what the Jeep rock crawler guys like to use.

We get 220 a ton but if we take it in whole they drop it to 180 oversize and deduct 150 for the tires plus 5 dollars a piece.

We have a towing company and also buy vehicles to junk
