Hello everyone, i am posting this to get some info on what hood i need for my truck. i have a 1962 chevy c10 that now needs a new hood. i was wondering if the 1960-66 years all have the same hood or was there changes in the size, mountings, or design. any help will be great. right now i'm not looking to buy just getting info. Thanks.

The 60-61 Apache hood was different from the rest of the hoods wasn't it?

Yes. The 1960 & 61 shared the same style hoods and the 62-66 shared the same style hoods. GMC had some different turn signal shapes over the chevy

I've even seen 2 different style Latches on '62 to '66 Hoods. Anytime I needed a Latch, I always stuck to the same type. I never verified if they would interchange or not.

To summarize – any 1960-66 Chevy or GMC hood will fit any 1960-66 Chevy or GMC pickup, Suburban, or School bus with the full length hood. Chevy and GMC hoods share essentially the same sheet metal except for the front section. Early Chevy hoods have twin pods while the GMC has an open screen in front. On the later style hood Chevys have a somewhat smooth front panel while the GMC’s have a stamped intake scoop. Both series of GMC hoods have unique parking lights that are not common to Chevys.

The 60-61 style hoods use a latch with the release handle pointing down, accessed in the gap between the hood and the grille support.

The 62-66 style latch release handle points toward the driver side of the truck and is accessed in the rectangular hole in the front of the hood.

The latch panel that bolts to the grille support is the same for 60-66 with either style hood.
