Just got my 37 jalf ton pickup back from the paint shop. I had removed the data plate (with serial number) from the right side cowl underhood before taking it too be painted. Unfortunately my friend did such a good job, that he filled all the holes for the plate. I also don't have the "second plate" as seen next to the data plate. Does anybody have a good photo that shows the exact location of either plate. Any help/ measurements are appreciated. Jeff

Pre restoration pic of my '38, they should be the same. You should be able to pull the kick panel inside to get the exact location of the holes.

Thanks to both of you. I'm out of town, but will pull the kick panel this weekend. Interesting thing is your two trucks have them in two different orientations.

I like the town and country horn photo also. I've been looking for a set as I finish up the truck.

I forgot to mention that my '38 is a coupe, that most likely explains the difference. Geeze, you'd think one of these days I'd get old enough that the gray matter works ALL of the time.

1937 Data Plate Location on my half ton.
It is the upper plate showing the production location and number, the lower plate is missing. Note that the long axis is verticle and the alpha-numeric characters side is on the right. It is mounted with clutch head screws. I have wondered what the lower plate info is supposed to look like. Can you show the lower data plate info for your truck? Hope this helps. By the way I am fairly certain the orientation is correct. The truck came from the factory Commercial Red. A later owner painted the truck "Mariner Blue". I discovered the Red color under the plate.

My 37 pickup plate locations match Tiny's and 37Blue's.
It would be nice to see an "newer" set of plates to know exactly what they look like.

37Blue, it looks like your photo should rotate 1/4 turn clockwise. It then would match my '38.
Of course I may be looking at it wrong.

My '37 truck matches the photo in your first reply showing a truck cab; long axis verticle. The mounting holes only allow that orientation.
What kind of info is shown the lower plate showing in your photo? My second plate was missing and I've wondered if it had info similar to that given for cars.

37Blue, my lower plate is blank. There is no info stamped into the metal. I assume it had some painted info on it at one time, or maybe a decal.

You can enlarge my photo by holding down the control button and rolling the wheel on your mouse. Then click on my photo to enlarge it more.

Check from inside the cab and you may be able to find remnants of those original filled holes. Good luck
