For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 98 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 98 | Is there a pin that connects the 2 connected hood halves to the front hood ornament? The rolled ends of the hinges are too big for the back of the hood ornament. Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 581 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 581 | Not sure what you mean by hood ornament. Can't say I've seen one for this style truck. The 1939 cars with split hoods show them though. Yes, there is a pin that connects the hood to the front divider/nose piece. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 | Did you buy a new hinge piece, or ornament ? I had this issue with a hinge I got fron Chev's of the 40's. The original hinge has an extension front and rear that fits into the hole in the ornament, and sits on the concave recess at the firewall. The new one I got was way too large in diameter to fit at the ornament. The holes for bolting up the hood halves were also drilled wrong. Chev's of the 40's said this was first complaint they had gotten, but did not have an alternative / gave me a refund. I ended up using a small screwdriver tip for now until I can find the correct hinge | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,048 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,048 | I’m not sure the ’41 had any kind of a hood ornament. Mine and the others I’ve seen just have a curved “bullnose" that sorta matched the shape of the center hinge and curves down to meet the top of the grill. At the hood end it is bolted to the top of the radiator support and at the bottom it is bolted to the upper grill. The front stub of the hood center hinge fits right inside of it. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 54 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 54 | There was no hood ornament on 41 to 46
