For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 | I haven't posted pics in awhile, been working on the COE off and on for the past year or so. I'm not sure what I am going to do about paint. I'm really digging the bare metal look but that isn't a long term plan. The mechanicals are done. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2708854620106367558immvyk | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 37 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 37 | Looks like a really nice base to your project. Was it media blasted?
I'm jealous, looks like you live on the dry side of the mountains, around here you need to get your blasted vehicles primed right away, especially if its sand | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 127 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 127 | Nice truck, I'm really starting to love those COEs. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 | Was not media blasted. Paint remover, razor blades and sandpaper. I did have the grill blasted. As long as it stays in a shop it can stay bare metal for a long time. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | Jason, pick up a few gallons of phosphoric acid and give it a good scrub/wash with a piece of scotch brite. It will protect the metal and eliminate any left over debris from miniscule rust pits and the sanding process. As long as she's kept out of the rain it will last that way for years.
Good job!
