From all outward appearances and the engine serial number(ADCA), my engine is a 1946 216. But when I went to change the plugs they were not the 10mm but 14mm plugs. The spec. book doesn't show 1-tons as having the 235 as a factory option. The casting # is 839770.

So did some PO machine for different plugs? Otherwise what plug should I now use for the "216"?

This will probably answer your question re. 216 or 235 engine.

Yep, everything checks as a 216, which I thought it was. The spark plug size threw me. Someone must have enlarged it or a later head? I'll check that out too.

The plugs in it are old AC 46 which don't appear to have been made for some time. I've read that AC Delco R45 and R45s are what some are using now. Any other sizes/types?

mickster, I checked all the numbers out on the block and the head with parts books and online sites. After all that everything checked out as being original except it was supposed to have 10mm plugs, which it din't. I have to believe somebody tapped them for 14mm. Not sure why they would do that, perhaps they stripped out the originals.
