Please tell me the best place to get parts for rebuilding engine and a place to get other misc. parts. It is a 5 window and my goal is to have it done by the end of 2012!

Be sure to check out the various forums and they all specialize in different areas of the rebuild process. Also, check out the "tech tips" section (look in the upper right corner to find the link). Also, click on the "links" tab, then click on "parts" and it will list lots of places to get parts for different years of trucks. Sounds like a cool truck. Be sure to post pics when you get a chance. I'm sure others with more knowledge will chime in here soon. Good luck! Sounds like you have a nice project and it must be in good shape to finish it in 2012.  Most of us (me) have to drag them home and spend the next five years "resurrecting" them! Nice to have you and your 54 3100 five window in the group. How do you plan to use the truck? It will be fine, as is, for local driving. The stock 3.90 gears are actually pretty good all around gears. If you plan to drive many of those long Texas highways, you may want to add higher gears while you have it apart. Tons of advice on gearing here on the Bolt. Have fun.

good place to get parts i get most
of my parts from their,i also have a 1954
3100 p.u.,chevs of the 40s is also good,filling station is a good place
