I can't find out what the GM is for...I though the correct pre-fix was DA??? Not sure if this was a GM Truck motor that was used for a re-furb job? Any help would be appreciated.

I've looked at different casting number sites (such as Inliners and Hemmings)and they list the prefix as a 235. I haven't looked for the casting number yet. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | I may be reading the chart incorrectly but DDA was the prefix on 1946 engines in 5100, 5400, and 5700 trucks. If that is correct, those trucks' standard engine was a 235. POWER PLANT GENERAL INFORMATION Serial Numbers - Engine - DDA | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 25 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 25 | I looked again and did some more scraping. It is still obscured but I think it might be DBA instead of the DDA that I initially thought. So definitely a 216. | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 40 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 40 | Hi all did some more checking and found the number on the top of the block to the back side of the distributor of "DAM 6066"...I can't find that code in the book, but the 839770 seems to put it in the 1946 year...any help would be appreactied.
