I'm from the old school where it meant hooking to a coil. I see on the HEI where it should be hooked but I don't know how it hooks. I looks like it takes a special plug that I don't have and don't even know what to ask for at the parts house.

Just use the one pictured in the post above, and you're good to go! The signal to the tach works just like it would on a point-type distributor.

It has both wires and CANNOT be pluged in backwards. Run a 12 gauge switched hot to the RED wire to the red side of the plug and the green or blue (whichever they used when they made the plug,) to the signal wire from the tach. Unless your distributor is brand new, you will be amazed at the difference the HEI makes!

After a while I'll light up the propane heater in the garage and see if I can hook it up. Thanks for the help. If this doesn't work I be back here begging for more help.
