I am looking for some advice to stop the leak, rather than pull Transmission off and replace the plug. Several friends (I hope) said to buy some good radiator stop leak a mix it with the coolant. Any problems with that or is there a better solution.

If it doesn't fix the problem, not much lost.
I agree with Cletis though, that if the problem is rust-through, it may not work, or will work only for a short time.
