Hi all,

I only have 1 key for my 66 Chev which works the ign. switch but not the door.
Were there 2 keys on trucks? I know my GM cars have 2 but the round one is always for the trunk not the door.
My ign. key is the small squared edge one.

Thanks for any input on my issue.

I have one key for driver door, ignition and glovebox. It is possible that maybe your ignition or door lock was replaced at some point

Thanks again Jon! Happy Holidays

Hi Rick,
I need to take some more and somehow add the link to my sig.. I will take some of the interior which has factory gauges that are kinda cool and neat old Dana placards instructions for the 4x4 equipment. Not enough time in the day!

Thanks!

I have seen the gloveboxes with and without locks. Mine was probably ordered with one which is why they are all keyed the same.

The ignition and driver side door, were keyed-alike from the factory. On the Custom Cab equipped trucks, the passenger side door lock and the glove box lock were all keyed-alike, matching the single key for the ignition and driver side door. You can also purchase a kit, with all four tumblers from the ususal suspects, but "buyer-beware", with the quality, fit & finish, since all tumblers were not created equal.

Thank you Tony, your truck is incredible. I'm currently wiping the slobber off my desk.
What do they call that Blue and mine didn't come with a white roof?
Tried the keyes on both doors yesterday, nada. No glovebox lock either? Truck appears so original cant imagine the ign. was changed.

Thanks for the comments guys. 66K20, the fellow we are doing the blue/white '66 K20 for is in SoCal.

The factory blue is #508 - Dark Blue with the Off-White accents & cab top.

Find you an old locksmith that has been in business for at least 25 years and have him re-key the door to match the ignition using the original blanks he has rat-holed away.

I've re-keyed many of these old locks myself, there's only 5 cuts or so-I use a Frisbee to keep the parts from disappearing, disassemble the lock, match up tumblers, re-assemble. There's even a how-to in the 63 truck shop manual. Bi-focals or magnifying glass may be required.

On the last glovebox lock I did, I simply pulled a couple tumblers out-any old GM/Briggs key will open it now. I'm not worried about security too much in that case-you could reach up behind & rip out the cardboard if you really wanted in there.

I'm here to help anyone with rekeying your truck locks. I have been a Locksmith for 35 yrs. I can make your door locks and ign locks work on the same key. Most of the old trucks that I have seen, use the same key from the door and ign, haven't seen a glove box and passenger door lock with key like driver door and ign.Ken. 706-468-6530

The b-10 and b-11 will fit, and work in the ign, door, glove box,and trunk on the early cars. Even the old GM gas caps.
The only diff is the head design,

On my '65 c10, I only have the push button on the passenger side handle, since mine is the base model, non-custom cab edition.

Other than the key lock is there some other hardware to add in there to the passenger side door so that I can have keyed lock on each side?

The only time I really need it is when I have a passenger and want to to open the door.

Thanks for any info..

-W:

The tumblers in the outside door handles are the only hardware needed for the conversion. It takes more time to get to the tumblers, than it takes to replace them.
