hello everyone. i am writing this message as a preemptive strike. i have a 1962 chevy C10 with an electric wiper motor. i have no clue on its age but it has to be older than 25 years. Now my question to stovebolt is, does anyone make a new/rebuild this type of wiper motor. i have looked on places like classic parts of America, LMC, truck/car shop but none have one for the 62. Any help will be appreciated.

After many months of searching I found a factory remanufactured OEM wiper motor for my 1960 on Ebay. They do turn up infrequently. I’m not aware of anyone that rebuilds these and makes them generally available. Also note there are two different styles of motors on the 60-66 – one mounts parallel to the firewall, and the other points toward the back of the dash. Just check which type you have before shopping for a replacement.

An alternative is one of the new design wipers systems from Newport Engineering. Back in the 1980’s I installed one in my 1946 Ford and loved it. Worked perfectly, self parking, and two speeds. They also sell a delay switch for it.

A few years ago my son installed one of the Newport systems in his 1960 Galaxie and hated it. High speed was slower than his original vacuum motor, and slow speed wasn’t even worth using. So I don’t know if their quality has diminished, or my son just got a defective unit. I sure did like mine. I’d probably put one in my truck, but it is rarely driven in bad weather any longer, and I also can’t afford it.

These folks restored a 2 speed electric wiper motor for me a few years ago. I don't know if they are still in business or not, but they did a fine job, which is why I'll recommend them:

They offered both Show Car and Non-Show/Driver, which is what I went with and it performed flawlessly.

Good Luck!

i have been there with my 62! only year that uses the motor at a right angle to the hole in firewall. mine had a stripped gear. take off the tin cover and inspect the gears. if its the motor you can find one. if its the gear start asking around. I was lucky enough to have a member on here send me a good one! I have seem someone selling just the gear on ebay, but he wanted $80. I waited! If its the motor send me an email and i'll see if i have an extra motor. (did you check for voltage first? do you hear the motor running?)
