Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 45 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 45 | I just pulled my transmission for a rebuild. 4 speed 1952 Chev half ton the number cast on the case is 3761980 the number casted on the case cover is 591568 this number dont match the 48-54 sm420 transmission Can anyone tell me what this transmission is by the 2 casting numbers ?? My master parts book goes to 1955 and this number is not listed thanks in advance if someone can help identify ?? It is located on the rear of the case just below the cover on the left side (4-speed).
Just to be sure - do you have a closed driveshaft (torque-tube on '54 or earlier) or open driveshaft ('55 and later).
