| | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 12 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 12 | I am new to the site and to the classic trucks. I just picked up a 1953 GMC 9100 truck in driving condition. She is defiantly showing her years but is solid.
It had a funny ticking sound I managed to trace down to the generator. Ended up being that someone didn't put a nut back on to hold the pulley. I took the hold thing apart, cleaned it up, chased the threads, bead blasted it and painted it.
Now I go back to install it and be damned if I remember where the condenser was hooked up too. Has any one dealt with this or know where I hook it up too, field or armature?

It's supposed to be connected to the Armature terminal, but if it gets left off, you're not likely to notice any difference in charging system performance. Definitely don't connect it to the field terminal.
