a friend of mine has a 1/2 ton 51 model truck with the factory drum 6 lug brakes. The rearend has already been changed and is 5 lug. He was woundering if anyone offered drums for the front but have the 5 lug pattern. I think the rear is 4 3/4 car pattern. His plan is to change the front end out later but dont have the funds right now and wanted to try and get it on the road.

I don't understand. He would need 5 lug hubs too in order to mount the wheels.

Yes, i was thinking it the hub was built into the drum, but if they have hubs with slide on drums he would need hubs and drums for five lug. Or if there is another cheap way to get it to five lug, like parts from a donor vehicle. Im not real farmillar with these older trucks but deffenatly learning alot, so please excuse me if im not making sence.

go with a disc brake conversion chevsofthe40s.com has a 5 lug disc brake conversion kit that uses the original spindles,im getting it myself

Ill let him know about that option too. If it were mine this is what i would do.

Maybe I am mis-reading what you want to accomplish but you can just use car front brake drums to get the 5 bolt atching bolt pattern. I am told it is a quick bolt on swap as they both use the same wheel bearings.

You need to find the hubs and drums from a 49-54 Chevy passenger car for the conversion. 55 up will not work.
