How in the world do I remove Daton wheels again? I asked this before, but the fronts have been soaking for a year (been doing other things)and they are still stuck. The truck isn't that rusty and the lugs came off easy. Makes me think I'm not doing something right. The rears don't show any lugs. I know someone helped me with a post before, but I can't find it in the search. What is needed to expose the rear lugs again? Can a safely use heat on the hubs, wheels drums etc? Thank you guys for the help.

Hy Tomcoe, if all of the clamps are off, and the wheels are off the ground, the "rim" is stuck to the wheel, take a sledge and hit the rim from behind, it should come off after a few whacks, hope that helps.
Spin it and Space your whacks around the inside of the wheel. Did you install Dayton adapters? the truck in your link has disc/budd type wheels. usually the lugs are visible on a dayton set up. the nut holds a clamp which fills the space between wheel and spoke. on the rear once you get the outer tire off you have to slide the spacer off then you slide the inner wheel off.
Did you remove only the nuts or did you remove the nuts and the cleats. If you haven't removed the cleats, thats whats holding the wheel on. For safety sake, to remove the cleats, put the nuts back on several turn and hit the side of the cleats. Quite often the cleats will jump off with enough force to hurt someone. The nuts serve to hold the cleats on so they can be safely removed. If you do have the cleats removed and it is stuck, see how close the valve is to one of the spokes. There are safety stops near the valve on the wheel. If someone installed the wheel with one of the stops on a spoke, it will take a pretty good size hammer. Heat will do no good and all you will do is take a chance of ruining something.
Thanks guys. This type of wheel is an area where I'm pretty naive. Yes, this is a different truck, not the one pictured in my link. I have not released the 'cleats' yet, so that has to be it. I'll get on it and report back. Thanks very much again! Tom
