Could these elbows be used as the actual manifold,without the plenum chamber? I want a 3X1 set up,but haven't seen one for the GMC engines.I'm thinking a spacer on each upright with a 1 inch tube between them would help balance the intake pulses to make them flow a little smoother. Ideas,comments?

I've seen a 5 X 1 McGurk (I've got one of those) and a 5 X 1 Howard (I've got one of those), but never an Edmunds with that many carbs. Interesting! The idea you are contemplating is basically the idea used by Harper on their set up. The only problem I see when I look at those type of multiple carb intakes is the fact that there is no heat to the intakes, with water or exhaust. You know, of course, that cuts into the effeciency of an intake of that nature. Joe

So far I've never seen a currently made 3 single throat set up for GMC sixes. There are several available for Chevies,but none that I know of being made now for the GMC.
Not having heat could be an issue,I hadn't thought of that yet.

It is actually designed to be used with either two or three carbs, most engines can't actually benefit from all 5. Why not just get blockoff plates and run it with three carbs? Larrowe & Sons sells them.

I think mine is a GMC intake also, since it's a plenum chamber with three elbows. I also have some block off plates to make it either a 2 X 2 or a 3 X 2. Joe

I thought running 3 singles progressively,or 2 singles direct might make a little more power without killing what little fuel economy it currently has. (Maybe running a single two barrel would be the best compromise.)
