When I got to work I grabbed my meter and started checking out to see was the heck was going on of course it stopped doing it. but I cant figure out what happened,
Any one ever had this happen before ?

"$old" | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 | Yep, the circuit breaker in the headlight sawitch is cycling, either due to an overload somewhere, or a set of high-output headlight bulbs that are drawing too much current. Have you swapped to a set of halogen bulbs or something similar recently? If there hasn't been any change associated with the headlights recently, look for a short in the dimmer switch. Those things live in a nasty environment, and they're subject to getting partial shorts. If the C/B in the switch has cycled very much, it could have damaged itself and you might need to replace the switch. It's there instead of a fuse to prevent total loss of the headlights- - - -they flash, rather than just going out in case of a short.

Ive had Halogen since the build (07) but it happened once before when I first got it back on the road and then just stopped ? But that makes perfect sense,Is there a headlight switch with a higher duty cycle available ? Or is there any other way I can get around this ? I really like the high-output halogens.

It would probably be possible to disable that one, and add a slightly higher-capacity breaker inline with the power supply wire to the switch. The breaker is a bimetal strip that's visible from the top of the switch assembly, IMHO, and it can be wedged closed with a little ingeneuity. Be sure to add a slightly higher-capacity automatic-reset breaker if you choose to disable the built-in breaker. Good luck!

I got several of them in my tool box that I've used on different applications on the 51. I don't know why I didn't think of that.
