I recently purchased a Loadmaster which I was told is a 1948 1 1/2 Ton. The serial number tag is missing off the door post but I have pretty well confirmed that it is a 1948. However there is a Chassis number tag on the drivers door post with the following info: "Maximum Gross Weight with Maximum Tires 16,000 lbs" "Chassis No. 20W-H 4001" "Net HP 83.5 at 3000 RPM" I have not been able to find any reference to this chassis number or the 16,000 lb GVW in the 1948 Manual. I assume that the 83.5 HP means that I have a 216 engine which also is supported by the engine serial number which has the prefix KAM. The truck has 161" wheelbase and is equipped with auxillary springs. Can anybody help with any additional information? Thanks, Dave.
If it's indeed a 16000lb. gvw truck, it's a 2 ton. 1 1/2 ton trucks from this era were 14000lb. gvw. 2 ton trucks were equipped with the "Loadmaster" 235 engine.

20W-H 4001 is your vin number and I believe the second letter is actually "Q" not "O" making your truck a 1947. If I'm right your number breaks down as follows;
Dave, Very interested to see a pic of your truck. I think we have the same drive train (I have a '46 2-ton) and if I come up with any manuals I am happy to share whatever I find out. I also have a later 235 in mine. Anyway, one of my voluntary jobs here on Stovebolt is to encourage new posters to share their stories of finding and restoring this old iron and posting pics. If you need any help with that I am happy to have you contact me.
Thanks guys for your help. Mike, you are correct. It is 2QW so I guess it is a 47 not a 48 as I was told. It was registered as a 48 but I think the MVB just went by whatever the owner told them. Maybe it was a left over 47 sold as a 48. I know that they used the engine number as the VIN. LevisPop, I did submit a picture and some info to the gallery submission but I don't know how it gets from there to the actual Galllery.
Hi guys. new guy here. So I bought this truck for a project and am looking to get it home soon. Having trouble though finding out weight and wheel base and dimensions. can some one help me out here? the truck is a few hours away and can not get the info myself. Also do any of you know what model this is. there is a tag for a 16000 pound load rating on it i was told.
