This is a question for those who have experience with T-5 transmissions.I have a few of these units,Camaro style with the 2.95 first gear ratio.I know there are World Class and non World Class units, and the WC trannys have upgraded syncros and needle beraings on the lower gears.Aside from these differences,is there any real additional torque capacity with a World Class transmission? The T-5 is going into a pu truck with a mild V-8 of around 240 HP,no drag strip action, but the pedal will be floored when necessary wink I'm assuming these are similar to the Mustang T-5 that appear to handle reasonable abuse in lighter vehicle.

You are right on the difference between the WC & NWC. I understand there are stronger mainshaft & some gears are stronger. Iv,e put 2 of the NWC from S-10,s in pickups behind 350,s. I,m currently running one now & have had no problems. I,m like you if a guy doesn,t do burn out,s or speed shift it will probably last forever. I,ve got a WC in my Mustang with 5.0. I rebuilt it & it is working good. I believe your Camero,s are WC,s.

One Camaro T-5 is from a 89 V-8,the tranny tag info matches up to a 1989 World Class .The other is an earlier NWC V-8 tranny.I also have a S10 type T-5 to give me the more foward shifter location if necessary. The S10 unit is also an 89 from a 2.8 V-6 and it's NWC with a 3.70 ish first gear. The info I find is for Mustangs, the WC T-5's have a torque capacity of 300 ft lbs ,the Camaro T-5 must be similar.

The 89 s-10 uses an electronic speedo. You cannot hook you cable to it. I don,t know about the Camero.

Opps, you're correct on the speedo.I'll dig up an earlier S10 tailhousing. The mechanical speedo drive gear can be positioned on the electric speedo Camaro T-5 mainshaft with careful measuring, shimstock and good old JB Weld.I believe the speedo gears where Saginaw parts adapted to the T-5.There's also an adapter to convert electronic drive tranny to mechanical, but it's 300 bucks.
