I have a customer that runs around the Spokane area cutting up old combines and other junk, he recycles it. He has a job starting on Monday that involves a 53 GMC Bus, would it be likely that a 53 GMC bus have a 302 in it?

If its a school bus, it would probably be a 248 or 270. I think the 302 started with the 450 series. Of course it depends on who has owned it. A 302 would bolt right in where a smaller engine had been. A motor coach would probably be a Detroit Diesel.

GMC displacement is the start of the SN, i. e. 302xxxxx, right side, stamped on machined pad behind the distr.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
