| | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 66 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2010 Posts: 66 | i'm in the process of getting my recently rebuilt 261 running and have primmed the pump, (good reading on the gauge) now when i reinstall distributer and set timing and have it running i get NO reading!! I only let it run a short time as i'm afraid as to why no pressure!! It is full of a good break-in oil and new oil line to a functioning gauge. Any ideas boys? Much appreciated!!!

| | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | sounds like you may not have the distributor seated in the oil pump drive. Try taking the distributor loose, with the cap off, and turn the shaft until it drops all the way in.

Had a buddy of mine tap engine over as i gingerly pushed distributor down, it had about 1/2 of an inch to go and now we got good pressure!!  Thanks a million!! I had installed a aluminum side plate and the distributer now almost touches it...the origional plate allowed more clearance, neverless i got it squared away. Thanks Dave...we did exactly what you recommended.
