I want to lower my '55 1st series truck two or three inches. The truck is now stock height. The truck sits a little higher in the back. Want the truck to sit level. Went to a suspension shop. They gave an estimate for lowering my truck. Their proposal is to remove and de-arc the springs to obtain the desired height.

I know some do not like the idea of lowering a truck. Try and keep an open mind. Looking for input for the results.

If youre on a tight budget,which we all are,,
You can-
1) de-arch the rear springs.
2) remove some of the leaves
3) make some lowering blocks w/longer u-bolts to match.
4) throw a bunch of sand bags in the back

I used Posies dual-flex on the front and removed some leaves on the back. link

If you're not planning to place big loads in the back removing a couple of leafs will probably do the trick for you. You can do this yourself so the only cost is your time. You can also trim the removed leaf(s) and place them on top of the spring pack for additional drop. The advantage of removed leafs is a much softer ride.

There's some do-it-yourself dearching described over on that other hot rod board. With dearching, most of the original load carrying capability will be retained.
